Waris does not use advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies. We do not use Google Analytics or any equivalent tool.
Our website itself sets no cookies of its own. The only cookies you may encounter are (1) a strictly necessary security cookie set by our website hosting provider, and (2) cookies set by Stripe on their own domain when you proceed to payment. Neither requires your consent.
There is no cookie banner on this website because there are no non-essential cookies to consent to.
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. They are widely used to make websites function, to remember your preferences, and — in cases that do not apply to us — to track users for advertising purposes.
Cookies set by the website you are visiting are called first-party cookies. Cookies set by third-party services embedded in the page (for example, payment processors or analytics tools) are called third-party cookies.
Under UK law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003, as amended), cookies that are strictly necessary for a service you have requested do not require consent. All other cookies require your prior, informed consent before they are set.
Our website application sets no first-party cookies. The will questionnaire operates using in-memory JavaScript variables that exist only for the duration of your browser session and are never written to a cookie or to browser storage.
Depending on your hosting provider, a single strictly necessary cookie may be set automatically for security purposes:
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Duration | Category |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| __cf_bm | Cloudflare (CDN / hosting) | Bot management and security. Distinguishes between human visitors and automated bots. Required for the site to function securely. | 30 minutes | Strictly necessary |
| _cfuvid | Cloudflare (CDN / hosting) | Rate limiting. Helps protect the website from abuse by tracking requests from a single user session. Only set where rate limiting thresholds are triggered. | Session | Strictly necessary |
Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003. They are set solely to enable the website to operate securely and cannot be disabled without affecting site functionality.
If we change our hosting provider and the cookies set by that provider differ from those listed above, this policy will be updated before the change takes effect.
When you click "Proceed to payment", you are redirected to a payment page hosted by Stripe, Inc. on their own domain (checkout.stripe.com or buy.stripe.com). At that point you leave waris.co.uk.
Stripe sets cookies on their own domain for the following purposes:
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration | Category |
|---|---|---|---|
| __stripe_mid | Fraud prevention and security. Helps Stripe detect fraudulent payment activity. | 1 year | Strictly necessary |
| __stripe_sid | Session management for the payment checkout flow. | Session | Strictly necessary |
| __stripe_orig_props | Preserves your checkout session state across the payment flow. | Session | Strictly necessary |
These cookies are set by Stripe on Stripe's domain, not by us. They are strictly necessary for the payment transaction to function and for Stripe to meet their obligations under payment industry security standards (PCI DSS). We have no control over them.
Stripe's use of your data on their platform is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.
This website loads typefaces (Inter and Playfair Display) from Google Fonts, a service operated by Google LLC. When your browser loads this page, it makes a network request to fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com to download the font files.
This request transmits your IP address to Google's servers. Google has confirmed that, since September 2022, the Google Fonts service does not set cookies and does not use the data to track users or serve advertising. Font file requests are logged by Google for operational purposes and are deleted within 60 days.
Action recommended before launch: To eliminate this third-party request entirely and fully comply with the data minimisation principle under UK GDPR Article 5(1)(c), we recommend self-hosting the Google Fonts files directly on the Waris server. This means no data is transmitted to Google at all. The font files can be downloaded from fonts.google.com and served from your own domain. This is a low-effort technical change with meaningful privacy benefit.
Until fonts are self-hosted, this request is disclosed here in the interest of full transparency. As no cookie is set and no personal data is retained by Google beyond operational logging, this request does not require consent under PECR.
For the avoidance of doubt, waris.co.uk does not use:
If we introduce any of the above in future, this policy will be updated and a cookie consent mechanism will be implemented before any non-essential cookies are set.
Because we use no non-essential cookies, there is nothing to opt out of on this website. You will not be presented with a cookie consent banner, and there is no "cookie preferences" panel. This is intentional and compliant with ICO guidance — a consent banner is only required where non-essential cookies are used.
If you wish to delete or block cookies set by Cloudflare or Stripe, you can do so through your browser settings. Please note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may cause the website or the payment page to malfunction. Standard browser controls are:
You can also manage cookies across sites using a browser extension such as uBlock Origin or Privacy Badger.
We will update this policy if we change the cookies or third-party requests used on this website. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the current version.
If we introduce any non-essential cookies, we will implement a consent mechanism before doing so, and will update this policy at the same time.
If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, please contact us at hello@waris.co.uk.
Our full Privacy Policy and Terms of Service are also available on this website.
If you have concerns about our use of cookies or tracking technologies that we have not resolved to your satisfaction, you may contact the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
